The lively, rhythmic tapping sounds made by the small metal plates makes everyone stop and look. Tap dancing’s popularity has been forever recorded by such film star greats as Fred Astaire (ballroom style), Sammie Davis, Jr. (hoofing) and Gene Kelly (ballet style).
